Kinja'd!!!

Spurred on by the T-top post below, I never really thought about this till now but as far as I can find from my research nobody makes reproduction GM Fisher T-tops. I really want new glass since mine has some crazy deep gouging and scratches from 35 years of use. If anyone knows of a company or a process to fix deep deep scratches in glass, let me know.

I bet a company who does custom glass work can make new panes to go in the factory frames for you.

Maybe, maybe not. Glass bending and stretching is fairly easy on an industrial scale, but not so much for one-off pieces.

I would be impressed, they have some weird multi axis curves.

I think the overall screwing of the T-top market by changing fashions and the great difficulty of making a T-top structure that crash-tests properly conspired to pretty much nuke anything involved with them. I’ve done some research, and all the companies offering T-top kits or factory installations pretty much went up in smoke. May have even been liability lawsuit fears, but regardless, it’s been years since you could buy a kit... which has knock-on effects for continued availability of parts.

Are the Camaro and T/A parts interchangeable? http://www.camarocentral.com/1978_1981_Fisher_T_Top_Assembly_Left_Hand_p/dwn-518.htm

ETA: Oops didn’t catch they were used at first. Sorry!

im surprised the aftermarket hasn’t begun making t-top glass with surge in popularity the late second generation F-Bodies have had. Are you wanting correct marked glass or just glass in general? I’ve had issues with finding correct door glass for my 68 with the Astro Ventalation on the glass like it should have.

As far as I know, fixing the glass is a loss. Many have tried, none have succeeded. Its a bummer since they make all the other glass for these cars.

They don’t even make aftermarket t top bags. I didnt want to buy the repros since they were so expensive and a 40$ set of bags would do the trick. I ended up settling for harbor freight moving blankets.

Apparently my mechanic has a nice used pair that he has had sitting, but I am buying them lol.

My car will never be close to factory ever so I’d take anything I can get.

Could you find a car at a wreckers or one that’s being parted out and take the tops? Finding some decent ones shouldn’t be hard, if it’s anything like the 300ZX many owners don’t care for having the roof off.
